Community Life

Community Life is an integral part of our religious life. It is in the community that we experience what it is to live as Passionist religious and how to put into practice the values put forth by our founder, St. Paul of the Cross. Hence in Jeevadhama, all the members come together for morning and evening prayers and for the celebration of the Eucharist. We also come together for all the meals. It is when we come together for meals we share about our ministries, our studies, our struggles and our light moments.

Since Sports and recreation are essential elements in building up a healthy and happy community we take special care to be in the field playing during sports and in the recreation room during recreation. To maintain and foster fraternal personal relationships, the community comes together on a regular basis to discuss matters affecting life in common. Each member takes special care to acknowledge with respect the dignity and equality of every other member. Since everyone is generous in recognizing and nurturing the diverse gifts and talents of every other member, we have a healthy and happy community in Jeevadhama.

It is a fact that only serious study can contribute to a solid formation of the pastor of souls, as a teacher of the faith and enable a religious to proclaim the Gospel message efficaciously in the manner most suited to present-day culture. Therefore, we encourage our students to apply to study with great dedication.

Our two students are studying in KristuJyoti College of the Salesians of Don Bosco. They have morning classes five mornings a week. In the afternoons they have short time for rest and private study. The two brothers will be completing their Theological studies in September this year. The professors at KristuJyoticollege havevery good opinion about the overall performance of our students.

Areas of our Apostolic Activity

While on this earth, Jesus our Savior made His own the joys and sorrows of those among whom He lived, and “went about doing good and healing all” and He founded the Church to spread the Kingdom of God.Since we have inherited from our Lord the precious legacy of his teachings and personal example, we are challenged to play our part zealously in the apostolic endeavors demanded by our times.

Since the religious life by its very nature is apostolic, we encourage our brothers to take part in the apostolate in whatever way best accords with their gifts and circusmstances. On Sundays, our brothers are given opportunity to teach catechism and animate liturgy in different parishes. They also have the opportunity to visit the sick and the elderly. During summer Holidays, Students are given one month exposure programmes in Parishes, Villages, or in centers for Ex prisoners or HIV/AIDS patients.

As part of the local Church, we share its pastoral needs, and cooperate by being available to celebrate the Eucharist on Sundays and to hear confessions on special occasions. Since we are surrounded by many religious communities, we often get invited to preach retreats and recollections as well. Every year, in the month of October, we conduct special prayer services and Rosary at the homes of Catholics in our locality. And this gives us an opportunity to bring the faithful to a closer union with God and a deeper relationship with one another.
